WELCOME TO OUR WARD PROVIDENT LIVING BLOG

We are excited about this new adventure for our ward family. As you know, Bishop Dykens feels very strongly that provident living needs to be a focus area for our ward. We hope that this blog will be a great resource for you. It is in an infancy stage, but be patient, because we have great plans. We also want you to feel free to contribute your thoughts and ideas.

Provident Living Fair

I'm really looking forward to our fair this coming weekend. This will be a great opportunity to get an overall look at several subjects, and then decide where you all would like us to focus. The teachers have done a lot of preparation, so it's going to be fantastic.
See you there!

Scripture Reading

Hey all I set up a team for those of you that want to do something other than the spreadsheet. It comes down to about 23 verses a day (starting today) to finish the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. If you are interested in joining me leave a comment with your email address or email me at kpitrat@yahoo.com so I can invite you to our team. Once you get the invitation you will set up your account with Readthescriptures.com and set up a schedule. Then they will email you what you need to read each day to meet your goal.

We have been talking alot about 72 hour kits. There are many ways to provide these for your family. They can be purchased ready made from companies like Emergency Essentials. Their
web site is www.beprepared.com . Or you can create your own. Just gather what you would need to survive for 3 days. Start by just making a list of what you think that is.

We will have a station on 72 hour kits at our provident living fair at the end of March.

Scripture reading

There are two ways to record your scripture reading. If you want to not worry about how much you read, but just want to read every day ( this works great for really busy people or those with young children) use the spread sheet. Simply list your name and those you are reading with(you can do this as a family or as individuals) and then put x's each day that you read. The goal for this program would be to read for 90 days. If you miss a day, just keep working.

If you would like a more challenging program, you can join our reading group on the other website listed. We will be reading the Book of Mormon starting March 1st with the goal to complete by the end of the year. Again, this can work for families as it is not overwhelming. If you are interested in this program, I will need to send you an invite so that you can join it. It will be for members of our ward. Just email me at kpitrat@yahoo.com and I will sign you up.

I am excited about doing this with all of you! Let's "Just do it" (Pres. Spencer W. Kimball)
